Nomad Links

http://www.gonomad.com is aimed at a higher-budget non-sustainable crowd, but it has some fantastic links. Some of my favorites:
- David Byrne (lead singer of The Talking Heads, "Burning Down the House" among other songs) talks about cycling in various cities all over the world.
- Tips for living abroad with kids
- Dead Goat Polo: National Sport of Kyrgyzstan

Nomads and long term hosts get to

Nomad Hostel?

Just as farms, jam- or soap-manufacturers, tea houses, or bike shops can be turned into nomad bases, a hostel seems like a fantastic choice.

The Transcendental Object at the End of Time.

The following is my vision of what is happening now on earth. I believe that we are in the process of entering the Singularity at this time. I believe that the increasing upward spiral of human knowledge and technological advancement to a breaking point and the end of the Mayan calendar all coalesce at the same moment in time for a reason. I believe that the gravitational tides affect us on earth and that since the Mayan calendar was based solely on observations of heavenly phenomenon whatever it is that marks it's end will have an impact on this planet through gravity. I believe that the entire 20th century has been building to this moment and that is why human knowledge is exponentially increasingly.

arrg frustrating

i've spend the better part of 15 min trying to figure out how to change my status update, maybe its not called that, its seems status is only concerned with your maritial status.
its not that bad, i'm actually baking bread in the mean time, but it unfortunately means that i probably won't log in again for several months, as this seems like a waste of my time.

on to googlewave.

No air - smoking or not smoking in nomad bases

Last night Erga and I went to the Gypsy Swing. We couldn't find it at first, when we finally got there I asked if there was smoking in the big hall. The guy said no. We went in after paying a "donation". Then of course the space was full of smoke. We went back, asked our donation back and left.

Apparently Berlin is still in the stone age. The same goes for the unconference. The only smoke-free space is in the back, without daylight. It is annoying. We spent some time in the smoky front, which is okay when you're drinking some alcohol, you don't really notice. But when we went out and then back in again at the gypsy place we couldn't take it at all.
